ArtHouse Nisaki

I am teaching classes mostly in glass fusing art. If you are interested in exploring working with glass, please contact me. I offer short introductory classes of 4 hour classes, daily classes and classes taking a few days depending on the topic and wishes of the participants.

Introduction Workshop Glass Fusing

Location: Art House Nisaki - Vinglatouri

Workshop hours: 1 pm to 4 pm

After a short introduction of glass fusing you will learn how to cut glass. For your project you can vary a predefined design for a small glass hanger (suncatcher) to use in the garden or window or come up with your own design. You will select the glass colors you like to use and cut the fusing glass due to your design. We will be using hand made fusing glass, which is made in Portland/Oregon.

Then the glass will be layered in the kiln. If time allows you can also create a glass jewelry piece.

The firing of the glass takes about 24 hours, so you have to come back another time to pick up your items. I will inform you once its ready to be picked up.

The class is limited to 4 participants. In case more people sign up an additional class might be offered. No previous knowledge necessary. Workshop language is English (or German, if all participants speak German).

Costs: EUR 60 (includes material and firing costs). Payment has to be done in advance and is not refundable. In case you have to cancel you have the option to send a substitute participant.

Please note that you participate at your own risk and that you have to sign a liability release form at the beginning of the class.

Basic Workshop Glass Fusing

Workshop hours: 11 am to 4 pm (ends flexible)

Participants will get a view into the world of glass art and the concept of creating glass objects by using the warm glass method, which is fusing glass in a kiln. We will look into various kinds of glass, tools, warm and cold processing techniques, design and chromatics. You will receive an introductory manual to take home.

You will learn how to design a class object by using various design elements and how to cut the glass according to your design and layer glass in the kiln. We will be using hand made fusing glass, which is made in Portland/Oregon. Your project will be a larger glass object (suncatcher) to hang in the garden or window. If time allows you can also create 1 or 2 glass jewelry pieces.
